Featured Speaker
Dante Bichette Sr.

Dante Bichette Sr. was a powerhouse hitter who made his mark in Major League Baseball, most notably with the Colorado Rockies. A four-time All-Star, he was a key player in the Rockies' inaugural 1993 season and dominated offensively, winning a Silver Slugger Award in 1995 while leading the National League in home runs, RBIs, and total bases. Known for his power, he hit the first home run in Rockies history and later became the first player to hit for the cycle in an interleague game. As part of the feared "Blake Street Bombers," he helped establish Colorado as an offensive juggernaut. Bichette also joined the elite 30-30 club in 1996 and consistently delivered clutch performances, including a 14th-inning walk-off homer to secure the first-ever Opening Day win at Coors Field.

Dick Monfort

Dick Monfort needs no introduction—we all know him as the driving force behind the Colorado Rockies. As owner, chairman, and CEO, he has been the face of the franchise, shaping its vision and leading it through decades of baseball in the Mile High City. Under his leadership, the Rockies have made memorable playoff runs, including a legendary trip to the 2007 World Series, forever cementing their place in Denver sports history. A passionate advocate for the team and its fans, Monfort has overseen major investments in player development, stadium enhancements, and the overall growth of the Rockies brand. His dedication to Colorado baseball is unmatched, making him a central figure in the team’s past, present, and future.

Mike Anderson
UNC Baseball Head Coach

In June 2022, Northern Colorado alumnus and former Nebraska Men's College World Series skipper Mike Anderson was appointed as the 10th head coach in UNC Baseball history. Returning to the Blue and Gold, Anderson, who played for the Bears from 1983 to 1986 under legendary head coach Tom Petroff, was drafted in the eighth round of the 1986 MLB Draft by the California Angels. With over 30 years of coaching experience and a keen eye for talent, Anderson has made a significant impact in his tenure. Notably, he announced the signing of five promising student-athletes to the 2025 class, bolstering the program's future prospects. His leadership continues to drive the Bears toward a bright and competitive future.

Mission Statement

Friends of Baseball is a non-profit organization dedicated to contributing opportunities for participation in the game of baseball…within the City of Greeley & Surrounding Area. Funds are raised from the annual “Breakfast of Champions” event. Those funds are to update and enhance existing baseball programs, from youth all the way to college. We distribute funds to make capital improvements, provide on-going operational support, and to help build additional baseball facilities if warranted.

Friends of Baseball was founded in 1987 by a small group of men that loved the game of baseball and now is over 25 committee members strong, along with several sponsors in the surrounding area.  If you would like to become a committee member or sponsor,
